The Johnson County League of Women Voters presents: 

FRACKING, WATER, AND OUR FUTURE

Moderator: Elaine Giessel, LWVK Study Chair
 
The program will provide important background information on the current state of water resources and the process of hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) for oil and gas in Kansas. 
 
Panelists: Susan Stover and Dave Newell
 
LWV member Susan Stover, is manager of High Plains Issues with the Kansas Water Office, the state’s water planning agency. 
A licensed geologist, Stover is current chair of the Geology and Public Policy Committee at Geological Society of America, where they have been addressing issues related to the new energy boom. 
 
Dave Newell is a geologist with the Energy Research Section in the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas. 
He also teaches Petroleum Geology at the University of Missouri Kansas City as an adjunct instructor.
