The guilty verdicts in the trial of George Floyd’s murderer yesterday brings some comfort to those who cared for him, and those who know his murder to be just one in a long line of injustices borne by Black people in America. But as others have said, justice in this case would mean George Floyd would still be alive. The Mainstream Coalition stands in support of those who continue to fight for that justice, against the inequalities endemic to our society and institutions. We pledge to continue to listen to and boost the voices of those who experience racism in the work we do to engage all Kansans in their political future.
