The Summit: Part of Mainstream's United We Stand Weekend of Action
UNITED WE STAND
CONFRONTING CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM AT HOME
Christian Nationalism has risen in our national awareness and created an urgent need for action under Trump’s second administration. Project 2025 outlines the playbook for how to put white Christian Nationalists into positions of unprecedented power and forwards an agenda that privileges the very few who adhere to their so-called “Christian” ideology. This administration is aggressively enacting on that agenda with appointments and executive orders that consistently advance their goals.
The Summit is a premier educational opportunity for our region to equip advocates with the knowledge, tools, and connections to fight Christian Nationalism in our local, state, and federal policy and elections. We'll hear from renowned authors, local advocacy partners, and national organizations including ACLU of Kansas, Planned Parenthood Great Plains, American Atheists, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and Southern Poverty Law Center.
Attendees will walk away from the Summit ready to:
- Understand and articulate the rise of Christian Nationalism and its critical distinction from Christianity
- Participate in the legislative and policy-making process as an advocate against the extreme ideologies of Christian Nationalism
- Identify and combat Christian Nationalist rhetoric
- Communicate persuasively with Christian Nationalist sympathizers in our communities
- Work in collaboration across faith and secular communities against religious extremism
- Hold candidates and elected officials accountable when they openly support religious extremism and the destruction of our democracy

CELEBRATING OUR 2025 HONOREE: KANSAS INTERFAITH ACTION & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RABBI MOTI RIEBER
Founded by Rabbi Moti Rieber almost 10 years ago, KIFA puts faith into action at the Kansas statehouse and beyond. Mainstream is honored to partner with KIFA and Rabbi Moti year-round as we work together to confront the rise of Christian Nationalism. KIFA advocates are a strong voice in the statehouse and our communities, and we are so very lucky to be able to call them friends.
FEATURED SPEAKER: AARON SCOTT
Aaron Scott is a leader with the Poor People's Campaign, a second-generation preacher, third-generation organizer, and co-founder of Chaplains on the Harbor. A church worker and organizer, he is a trans father and a Christian who grew up in poverty. He has watched loved ones and peers get recruited into White Christian nationalism. In Bring Back Your People, he shares strategies of relationship and conversation for those of us who don't know what to do.
Mainstream's annual fundraising event is the place to celebrate the power of Kansas voters and draw inspiration from community leaders. For over 30 years Mainstream has brought together civically engaged Kansans, from elected officials to advocates, across the political spectrum, to celebrate Mainstream's mission to defend church-state separation. Our Stand Up, Speak Out honoree embodies our core values: respect for the rights, beliefs, and freedoms of all individuals; the courage to unequivocally stand up for justice and equality; and the importance of engaging in the political process to secure those rights.
