The team at the Mainstream Coalition support the directives of the volunteer Board of Directors, and are in turn supported by the dedicated, hard-working volunteers and members of the Coalition. Nothing would happen without all of us working together. Thank you.

Michael Poppa

Michael Poppa began as Mainstream's Executive Director in 2020, after serving on Roeland Park's City Council and working for the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that he served as chair of the Metro KC chapter of Equality Kansas, and spearheaded the first NDO in Johnson County, in Roeland Park. His background in public service and equal rights advocacy serve him well in leading Mainstream into its next twenty-five years.

Lindsay joined The Voter Network team in 2018 after working for the Mayor’s office in Kansas City, Kansas, where she oversaw staff, policy and project management. She previously held roles in corporate community relations and on a number of Kansas political campaigns - at the local, state-wide and federal levels - including serving as Congressman Dennis Moore’s campaign manager for his successful 2008 re-election bid. Lindsay believes that an empowered electorate creates responsive, transparent and inclusive governments, and is looking forward to turning out more voters!

Laurel began working at Mainstream in June of 2021. A native Kansan, Laurel has spent the last ten years in Michigan advocating for smart, tested policies to improve the lives of underserved communities. She earned her Masters in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, which allowed her to study in Hungary and intern in Tanzania and Ethiopia. Laurel is passionate about connecting people to the issues that impact them.

Madeline Cochran

Madeline came to the Mainstream Coalition for the 2020 election cycle after serving as Deputy Director of a conservation organization in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. She is happy to be back in her hometown where she has a history of volunteering for and working on local campaigns. Madeline hopes to create meaningful engagement that empowers and elevates underrepresented voices.

Jen Lydon

Jen has been with Mainstream since March of 2022 and has been involved in the Kansas City area non-profit community for over 10 years. Jen has spent the majority of her career at Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City, most recently working in Program Development and Coordination. She also has vast experience in Volunteer and Community engagement. She has enjoyed creating long-lasting relationships with community volunteers, donors, and other Kansas City non-profit leaders and organizations. With her work at Mainstream, Jen hopes to continue to participate in guiding systemic change in public policy, guaranteeing equality for all Kansans.
