Organization Overview
Mainstream is dedicated to creating a more representative and responsive government by empowering informed participation and meaningful action in the political process. For over 25 years we have worked to educate, engage, and activate voters to stand against political extremism and guard against the encroachment of religious doctrine in the public space. After a decade of strong growth, we are poised to radically impact the political landscape of Kansas with a committed network of supporters, a statewide network of patterns and resources, and a clear voice advocating for common sense policy in Kansas.
Mainstream is made up of two affiliate organizations with distinct but complementary goals. Together, we aim to realize our shared vision of a Kansas political system that represents all of its constituents:
- Mainstream Coalition is a 501(c)(4) nonpartisan nonprofit political advocacy organization. We work with our members and partners in Topeka and communities across the state to influence legislation that results in equitable representation and sustainable public policy for all Kansans.
- Mainstream Civic Engagement Foundation is our 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit civic organization. Through partnerships with organizations and individuals, we inform, engage and connect Kansans through leadership development opportunities and nonpartisan civic engagement.
