This is the Candidate Survey for the 2020 Primary Election in Kansas, which takes place on August 4th, 2020.
Last Updated: July 31, 2020
In order to give voters more information about the positions of candidates on their ballots, the Mainstream Coalition partnered with a selection of issue-oriented advocacy organizations to ask candidates a set of questions on policy areas. Surveys were sent to all candidates with an email address listed for the 2020 Primary on the website of the Kansas Secretary of State. We have collected those answers and present them below.
If your candidate is missing from this list, please ask them to email [email protected] for the link. We will add primary candidate answers as they come in, and will publish a separate listing for the General Election.
Questions were framed in a way that allowed for yes/no answers, but also for commentary by candidates, so that the nuance of complicated issues could be explored.
When evaluating candidates, please look to both answers for a complete picture.
These are not endorsements. The Mainstream Coalition does not endorse candidates for public office. The ratings presented are simply an easy indicator of how closely the candidates match the policy positions of the Mainstream Coalition. If you are looking for recommendations, please visit MainPAC, or the website of our partners linked below (not all partners issue recommendations, however).
We would like to thank our partners in this survey, Advocacy and Awareness Group Johnson County, Climate Action KC, Equality Kansas, Game On for Kansas Schools, and The League of Women Voters of Johnson County.
