About Bad Faith

In 2024, Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism's Unholy War on Democracy came out to critical acclaim. Variety called it “the scariest and most penetrating documentary of the year” because it went deeper than any other film and uncovered the Christian Nationalist cancer that was tearing apart our democracy. Two years later the cancer is now enthroned in the Oval office. Our new film, Bad Faith 2026: Christian Nationalism in Power abridges the original film and adds fifteen minutes of new material on Project 2025 in action during Trump’s second term in office.

The assault on democracy did not begin with Trumpism. It did not begin with the Tea Party. It did not begin with the Moral Majority. The current day assault on democracy began with the WHITE SUPREMACY MOVEMENT in the 1960’s as part of a shrewd, calculated, and well executed political plan. That plan became cloaked as a religious movement. Those white supremacists and their heirs are now known as Christian Nationalists. Aided by a record 82% of the white Evangelical vote, Donald Trump was re-elected in 2024. Back in office, he immediately began implementing Project 2025, the playbook for the Christian Nationalist vision of America. Discover in BAD FAITH the historical origins of this movement. Discover also the secular and interfaith leaders challenging Christian Nationalism and the stirrings of the national mass movement to defend democracy from the greatest threat since its founding 250 years ago.

After the screening, we'll be joined for a discussion with local faith leaders and award-winning journalist Anne Nelson whose work Shadow Network: Media, Money and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right is featured in the film

Meet Anne Nelson

Anne is an award-winning journalist and author of Shadow Network: Media, Money and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right. Her work shines a light on a secretive network of right-wing fundamentalists, oil barons, and other interests, who have waged a forty-year campaign to take over Washington. It coordinates the political activism of many member organizations, including the National Rifle Association, the Federalist Society, and Family Research Council. In 2016 its members cut a deal with Donald Trump, who has been advancing their agendas from the White House. This eye-opening account describes their media platforms, their digital campaign strategy, and their chilling plans for America’s future, as they wage war against public health, public education, and the public interest. Past and present members include Kellyanne Conway, Steve Bannon, Jay Sekulow, Richard DeVos, and Wayne LaPierre.

Anne is an author and lecturer in the fields of international affairs, media and human rights. As a journalist she covered the conflicts in El Salvador and Guatemala, and won the Livingston Award for best international reporting from the Philippines. She served as the director of the Committee to Protect Journalists. In 1995 she became the director the international program at the Columbia School of Journalism, where she created the first curriculum in human rights reporting.
