Faith & Public Policy Forum

Kansas Interfaith Action and MainStream Coalition are co-sponsoring "Faith & Public Policy Forum"

Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 7:30-9pm
Village Presbyterian Church at Antioch
14895 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS 66221

How we as a society collect and spend our common resources, and whether and how we care for the less fortunate, are issues with profound moral significance. Voting itself is an act of faith - a belief that the actions we take can change the world for the better.

This year KIFA will again be holding a series of "Faith and Public Policy" Forums around the state in the weeks leading up to the 2018 elections. These nonpartisan panels are intended to give good, solid, factual information on issues of vital importance to voters of faith and conscience.

The panel will include advocates and activists who work daily on the vital issues facing voters in Kansas: the current state of Kansas finances, voter participation, criminal justice reform, the state of anti-poverty programs both in Kansas and nationally, gun violence, and more. The panel will be moderated by Rabbi Moti Rieber of KIFA, who will also give remarks about the moral implications of public policy. Each presenter will speak for 10-15 minutes, and there will be time for questions.

Panelists:

Heidi Holliday, Kansas Center for Economic Growth
Micah Kubic, ACLU of Kansas
Julie K. Brewer, United Community Services of Johnson County
Jo Ella Hoye, Moms Demand Action - Kansas

Moderated by Rabbi Moti Rieber, KIFA
