MainStream is looking for Fall interns ready to do the work required to make a difference in Kansas. We are a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that believes that moderate voices need to be heard in today’s political climate. We stand for common sense and good government. This is a critical time in Kansas politics and MainStream is part of the movement to take Kansas back from the extremists.
Fall Election Internships
Program Dates: Sep 28 - Nov 9, 2016
Wage: $10/hr
Hours per week: 8
Application Deadline: Sept. 23, 2016
Internship Description:
MainStream’s internship program is an opportunity to learn how grass roots efforts can make a difference in local political outcomes. Interns will:
- Canvass door to door each week in targeted districts, to educate voters about advanced voting, the importance of voting the whole ballot, and what is at stake if we don’t retain the current KS Supreme Court judges.
- Put their voices to use by calling voters, as well as businesses to remind them to give their employees time to go vote.
- Have optional opportunities to inform voters and hand out Advanced Voter Applications at scheduled public forums.
Our main goal will be to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) in November.
After a successful Primary Election internship program this summer, MainStream knows that the hard work of talking to voters at the door really pays off. We also know that the work is more fun when it is done with peers who have the same passion to make a difference and learn about the political process. That is why we are excited to offer this program to 10 interns who can form an effective GOTV team!
The internship program also gives interns an opportunity to learn from local political, business, and non-profit leaders each week in a round table discussion on topics like education, the use of data in politics, the role of non-profits in creating community change, and what challenges we face in KS when it comes to our constitutional rights.
Come join us for a fast paced, exciting 8 weeks where you will be able to learn, have fun, and make a difference in Kansas Politics.
