Kansas Citizens for Science Presents October's Science Cafe:
“How will stem cells change the medical paradigm?”
It will be Halloween before we know it…. But first…. We must all converge for the Science Café for October! I have a super speaker lined up for you! Just for us, Dr. Mark Weiss is driving in from Kansas State University in Manhattan, where he is a professor of Stem Cell Biology and Neuroscience. He is going to speak on “How will stem cells change the medical paradigm?” He is one of four investigators at KSU who discovered that mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) within the umbilical cord stroma may be banked at birth and used for regenerative medicine purposes. They are working with UC-MSC’s in preclinical disease models including cancer, Parkinson’s disease, heart failure, and a variety of other regenerative applications. His list of accomplishments is long and impressive. I’m sure we will all gain some valuable knowledge of stem cell research – what is really going on.
Come as early as 5:30 for dinner – and we will start the program at 6:30 PM. Please do allow some extra time for the crazy rush hour traffic. Remember, Coach’s is one block south of 135th and Grandview.
See you there!
