TBW: Criminal Justice Reform

True Blue Women hosts: "Criminal Justice Reform Forum"
co-sponsored by MainStream Coalition

Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Matt Ross Community Center

6:30 doors open for social time
7:00 program begins

Join us to hear inspirational speaker Dr. Micah Kubic teach us how we can make a difference in reforming the criminal justice system. Keeping 9,700 Kansans in prison, many of them non-violent drug offenders or people with mental illnesses, cost taxpayers $236 million in 2014. Dr. Kubic has a Kansas Smart Justice agenda to share with us.

Dr. Kubic, Executive Director of the Kansas American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), is a nationally-recognized community builder, scholar of the African-American experience and inspirational speaker. Read Dr. Kubic's biography.

As a follow up to this meeting we will host a one-time book discussion of Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, focusing on his work in Alabama working to free innocent men on death row.
