Catalina Velarde of the Velarde Law Firm will be our speaker.

Velarde is an immigration lawyer who can tell us the details of our broken immigration system and the problems immigrants face trying to stay here legally. She will explain the Temporary Protected Status of refugees from Haiti, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, and how it affects them now that Trump has rescinded that status. Some have lived in the US legally for up to 20 years, and must now make plans to leave.

She will bring a Dreamer along who will tell us personal stories. 

Chief of Staff John Kelly has said that Dreamers are “either too lazy or too scared to get off their asses.”  (With this administration, we must get used to vulgarities).
