USC and United Way of KC host their Public Policy Forum

Exploring policy opportunities in the 2016 Legislative Session

Friday, December 11
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Atonement Lutheran Church
Lower Level
9948 Metcalf Avenue
Overland Park, KS 66212

The 2015 Legislative Session was the longest in the history of Kansas as lawmakers struggled to fill a $400 million budget hole. As we look ahead to 2016, we must consider what opportunities exist to preserve and improve the safety net for the state’s most vulnerable residents.

Join us and a panel of experts to discuss the policy landscape in Kansas and to hear how advocates can encourage policy choices that reduce poverty, create opportunity, and enhance the lives of all people in Kansas.

Our panel of experts and topics includes:

  • The Kansas Budget: Annie McKay, Executive Director, KS Center for Economic Growth
  • Food Sales Tax: Ashley Jones-Wisner, State Policy Manager, KC Healthy Kids
  • Medicaid Expansion: Tom Bell, President and CEO, Kansas Hospital Association

Reservations are not required. The public policy forum is free of charge.
