Last night, we held our annual fundraiser, Stand Up, Speak Out 2019. Seven hundred engaged, politically active Kansans—elected officials, candidates, activists, advocates, and voters—attended to support the MainStream Education Foundation’s nonpartisan mission to engage Kansas voters in the political process. We were excited to see a significant number of youth represented as well, from Lawrence, Kansas City, KS, and Johnson County.
The Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly, gave the keynote address, and despite joking about her deadpan reputation, she inspired the crowd with her words.
At MainStream we have always stood for policy over partisanship, but never shied away from politics. The political process is how we secure and defend the rights, freedoms, and beliefs of all individuals. As we are every year, we were gratified to see so many come together to behind this purpose.
No Rest!
We may be weary after putting on the event, but there is no time to rest. With a critical local election coming up next Tuesday (Nov. 5th), one in which every Kansan has an item on their ballot, we ask you to step up and join us to help make sure every Kansan has their voice heard.
