The long fight in the House may have ended this morning at 3:30, but there are House members who can hold their heads up high today. Some are our stalwart moderates, some are steadfast conservatives who stuck to their principles. Whatever their reasons, they did not bow to the threats and pressure, and for that, we count them heroes.
- The "Nay" votes in the House
- The "Nay" votes in the Senate (they vote again later today)
Among these we'd like to call out the moderate House members who always stand up for their constituents, who work for reasonable legislation that helps all Kansans, and who do not back down. We recognize the hours of toil, of dialog, of compromise that goes into the work you do. But especially, we need to recognize those who spoke out on the floor, on the record: Rep. Tom Sawyer, and Rep. Tom Burroughs, who made sure the voice of Kansans was at least heard, if not represented.
